About

We are delighted to host three of Ireland's most talented young musicians.

Born and reared in the shadows of the Mourne Mountains, Ciara McCrickard has been exposed to traditional singing and songs from a young age. One of the finest singers in Irish music, her first solo album The Maid on the Mourne Shore is a unique collection of songs which depicts her personal journey through the tradition in both the Irish and English languages. Ciara, who has also recorded with 'At First Light', was joined on the album by Stephen Rooney and her brother, multi-instrumentalist Niall McCrickard, as well as Francis McIlduff, Emer Walsh and Stephen Flanagan. Ciara is also an accomplished fiddle player.

Stephen Rooney has been playing music from a young age and has performed for audiences all over the world. He began his musical journey on guitar before moving onto the banjo and has won All Ireland titles on both instruments. As a member of Ciorras, put together by traditional music legend Donal Lunny, he toured China, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Luxembourg. In 2010 he released the album Silver Linings. More recently, Stephen has been a member of Rianta, a dynamic quartet of four All Ireland winners, whose debut album was awarded 'Trad Connect Album of the year'. A sought-after composer, Stephen comes from a musical family in Co Down.

Stephen and Ciara will be joined by Niall McCrickard for this very special concert.
