About

Join us in Newry on Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 December for what's shaping up to be a wonderful family event. The Snowman Christmas Special, a concert (curated by violinist Joanne Quigley McParland) has something for all the family to enjoy, including an opportunity to see Howard Blake’s timeless, iconic winter's tale ‘The Snowman’. This all family classic, tells the tale of a little boy’s midnight adventures with the magical snowman.

The Hall will be transformed into a movie theatre and the film will be accompanied by a live professional orchestra and narrated by Northern Irish actress and singer Sara Dylan, known for her appearances in The Fall, Line of Duty and Game of Thrones®.

The Children from Flynn Performing Arts will join us to perform and there will be a special performance by Matthew Benson.  Timeless festive classics will fill the hall, such as Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, Mel Tormé’s The Christmas Song and a special reading with orchestral accompaniment of ‘The Night Before Christmas’ by Clement C. Moore.

We also have been informed that there will be a visit from a very special visitor who is extremely busy this time of year.

Event proudly presented and hosted by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.

COVID-19 Response

  • COVID-19 measures in place - COVID-19 Status Check As you will have seen recently, governmental regulations are changing for venues including Newry Town Hall. From 29 November 2021, it is necessary for anyone aged 18+ attending a performance at Newry Town Hall to provide one of the following: Proof of full vaccination, with the second dose having been given at least 14 days before attending. Acceptable forms of proof include COVIDCert NI certificates (travel certificate must be accompanied by valid Government Issued Photo ID), Covid immunisation record cards and valid Government issued Photo ID), and any official documentation from outside Northern Ireland such as the EU Digital Covid Certificate or the NHS Covid Pass. OR Proof of a negative Lateral Flow Test taken no more than 48 hours in advance. This will be in the form of an official SMS message which you will receive after completing and registering your Lateral Flow Test result at https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result OR Proof of natural immunity shown by a positive PCR test result for Covid issued between 30 and 180 days earlier. Any self-isolation period must have elapsed before coming to the Theatre. If you live in the Republic of Ireland, you can demonstrate your COVID-19 status using the EU Digital COVID Certificate (DCC): www.gov.ie/en/publication/3a698-eu-digital-covid-certificate/ How to upload a lateral flow test If you are demonstrating your COVID-19 Status using an NHS Lateral Flow Test this should be taken within 48 hours of your arrival at the event you are attending. You can order NHS Lateral Flow Tests at https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests. Once you have taken your test, you will need to report your result on the NHS website at https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests You will receive a text or email notification confirming your negative test result, to present on entry. A positive result from an NHS Lateral Flow Test means it’s likely you had coronavirus when the test was done. You and anyone you live with must not attend the venue and self-isolate immediately. You are then advised to get a PCR test to confirm your result as soon as possible. We would ask that you have this information ready on arrival at Newry Town Hall. If you are unable, or unwilling to provide any of the above, unfortunately you will not be permitted entry into Newry Town Hall. Please note that if you or a member of your party are displaying Covid symptoms or are required to self-isolate, you must not come to Newry Town Hall. A few more COVID-19 measures to keep you and venue staff safe: - We ask that you are respectful of others around and keep your distance from other people as you move through the venue. - We ask that you sanitise your hands on arrival and regularly wash and sanitise your hands throughout your visit. - Face coverings are mandatory at all times unless exempt. If you are exempt from wearing a face covering, please let our Front of House team know as soon as you arrive. - We’ll have enhanced cleaning before and after the visit and additional sanitisation during the event. - Event stewards and security staff will be to hand to help manage queues and the movement of people through the venue. - Contact details of customers will be retained for Track and Trace purposes. - We have increased the circulation of fresh air throughout the building so it might be cooler than you are used to. You may want to bring an extra layer, just in case.
