About
This course is perfect for complete beginners and anyone curious about exploring jewellery making for the first time. Over the course, with the guidance of jewellery artist Karen Daye-Hutchinson (Ghost & Bonesetter), you'll learn a range of fundamental techniques such as soldering, shaping, cutting, texturing, and polishing metal.
You'll also be introduced to the workshop environment and shown how to use specialist tools, including the piercing saw, soldering torch, mandrills, doming punches, files, hammers, and the rolling mill. By the end of the course, you'll have designed and created your own unique pieces of jewellery to take home. Basic materials are provided to get you started.
As you progress, you may wish to buy additional items such as silver, stones, or other materials for your projects—your tutor will guide you through these options, and costs are usually very reasonable. If you already own hand tools, feel free to bring them along, but don't worry if you don't—everything you need will be available for you to use in class.
