St. Patrick’s Day events at Newry and Mourne Museum 2024. On Sunday 17 March, at 10am until 11am there will be a Jumping Clay arts and crafts workshop. This will involve the children (aged 5+) making their own lucky leprechaun just in time for St. Patrick ’s Day. An adult must accompany children and numbers are limited, so pre booking of places is essential.
There will be a guided a tour of the Museum including the temporary exhibitions “Slices of History: Memories of McCann’s Bakery”, and “Newry Artists: Past and Present” starting at 11am until 12pm.
Mini Explorers will visit the Museum from 12 until 4pm to provide sensory play activities, which include: Five Sensory trays filled with dry sensory play themed St Patricks & Green, rice, oats, cereals, pasta; One tuff tray table which is suitable for older children with green scented therapeutic dough; A designated sensory toy area for children who may not play with the sensory trays, this will be on soft mats; A designated small baby area with sensory scarves, blankets, pom poms, mirror, baby books on soft mats, to allow babies under 9 months to be included.
Suitably qualified staff will on hand to answer questions parents may have about play at home.
There will also be an afternoon of traditional music from 2pm until 4pm.
