The UK left the European Union on the 31 January 2020 and is now in a transition period which will end on 31 December 2020. In January 2021 a new relationship with the EU will begin.
There will be changes after the transition period ends, whether or not an agreement is reached on the new relationship between the UK and the EU.

EU citizens, resident in the UK by 31 December 2020, and their family members (including non-EU citizens) need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue to live, work and study in the UK beyond 30 June 2021.
