Hemp Cottage

About

Voted as one of the top 10 Eco Houses ( Guardian April 2014) this Architect designed eco house was built from innovative timber frame with Hemp & lime walls and natural insulation materials. This cottage provides a healthy and relaxing get-away from the stresses of life, winter or summer. The river can be heard from the cottage. The river bank is now gated for child safety.

Generous sitting, dining, kitchen area with lots of natural light, with outside furniture to sit and eat on the deck or in the shared garden. Designed with level access to the cottage and a wet-room shower. Natural paints and cleaning products have been used.

2 miles from Crossgar village with pubs, cafes and an excellent wine shop. 10 minutes from Strangford Lough and 30-40 minutes from the best beaches. Local golf course 2 miles away. Strangford Lough, Mourne Mountains and beaches all easily accessible.

Hemp Cottage offers eco holiday living in contemporary accommodation by the river's edge. Our visitors report that the cottage & its environment are really special and very relaxing.

Other facilities include:

Living area with view of orchard and sliding door to veranda - wood burning stove
Dining table with 6 chairs with views of river
Orchard, herb garden & organic vegetable garden, and washing line (shared with the owners)
River & wildlife - red squirrels, kingfisher etc
Sheltered deck and hammock chair.

Take a look at the websites irishcottagesdown.com/Cottages/Downpatrick/hempcottage.htm and bevanarchitects@btconnect.com where Hemp Cottage is featured.

Our visitors have found the cottage & surroundings very relaxing, and enjoy the "natural" aspects of the design. Some have stayed 1 or 2 months, and we offer good rates for longer stays.
