Heron House

About

Ideal for a quiet getaway or as base for exploring County Down, Heron House provides a warm and welcoming home from home.

The house has gas fired central heating, a fully equipped kitchen, featuring a two oven/ eight ring, gas/electric range, a large sitting room with multi fuel burning stove, mezzanine sitting area, looking over Coney Island Bay to the south and the courtyard to the north. Three large twin bedrooms, all with en suite shower rooms, one with a balcony with a view of the Mournes, the others looking over the sea and the countryside.

There is one double bedroom beside the delightful seahorse bathroom. Downstairs, a single bedroom has a door opening onto the walled patio garden. The downstairs bathroom features a starfish mosaic shower, while the large downstairs twin bedroom features the level deck shower room with a carpet shark mosaic decorating the floor. The downstairs is level to allow easy access for people with mobility issues. There is plenty of storage space in the utility/cloakroom and a washing machine.

Guests have access to the patio garden the courtyard garden and a barbecue area. There is safe parking.

We leave you a welcome pack with tea, coffee, bread, butter and more. All bed linen is supplied and towels are also included. If you are going swimming you will need to bring your own towels for that.

Ardglass is half a mile away with shops, restaurants, cafes, post office, garage, historic monuments, marina, harbour and churches. We overlook Ardglass Golf Club, with its spectacular course and are within an easy drive of several other courses, with Royal County Down, 18 miles away, in Newcastle.

Coney Island Bay is an ASSI, as a site of European importance for the over wintering Light Bellied Brent Geese. Heron Farm is so named, because the herons gather on our land when the tide is full in the bay.
