About

Murlough Country House  is a unique double fronted Georgian Home that proudly sits on 6 acres.  It holds a commanding position surrounded by Murlough National Nature Reserve and has the stunning Mourne Mountains as an everyday backdrop.  It is a truly wonderful haven.

Murlough Country House is oozing with wonderful period features, that will delight,  blended seemlessly with all the contemporary comforts that will make this a home from home for 12-16 guests.

Murlough Country House consists of a large south facing conservatory, fully equipped kitchen, utility area, boot room and 3 exceptional reception rooms. There are six individually furnished bedrooms that are quirky and atmospheric offering views of our gardens, Murlough National Reserve countryside and the stunning Mourne Mountains. Excellent beds and luxurious bathrooms await your stay. There are 3 superking size bedrooms, one master ensuite, 2 kingsize bedrooms and 1 double bedroom.  Sofa beds are additional and can be used, especially for children. There are 5 beautifully designed bathrooms and a sauna that are bound to impress.

Murlough Country House has three floors: the lower ground floor, the ground floor and the first floor. On the  lower ground floor you’ll  enter through our ‘Shields’ Conservatory with a large dining table for 12 people.  This  leads onto a spacious well equipped kitchen with all the modern conveniences you’ll require.  Follow on through to ‘Agar’s Snug’, the first of 3 reception rooms. It is a cosy, classy snug with a wood burning stove. From “Agar’s Snug’ enter the lower ground floor hall which has several areas of it.  There’s the Boot room, the utility area in the back hall leading to the back door. A luxurious shower room and ‘Blundell’ our accessible downstairs Superking bedroom complete our lower ground floor.

The gentle staircase guides you up one easy flight to the ground floor and the grand entrance hall to ‘Murlough Country House’ with its magnificent supersized door.  The hall is flanked by ‘Maitland’ our beautiful drawing room and ‘Downshire’ our super tech cinema room. A small corridor from here leads to ‘Mitchell’ our delightful spacious kingsize bedroom  with  a stunning shower room next door.

Down a small set of steps and across the mid landing is a beautiful room with rain shower and electric sauna.

The gentle staircase continues to the top floor of ‘Murlough Country House’  and a spacious landing which has 4 signature bedrooms off it. Turn right off this upper hall and enter a small vestibule with 2 bedrooms off it.    ‘Annesley’ is our superking master ensuite. Opulent decoration and furnishings create a peaceful setting for rest and relaxation. ‘Magennes’ is our golden double bedroom with a delicate, warm and sunny feel to it.

Return back to the upper hall and turn right to ‘Macartney’ our kingsize bedroom with wonderful views over the front of the house and beyond. Last, but definitely not least, is ‘Armstrong’ our superking bedroom with free standing bath overlooking the Mourne Mountains.

Outside, our beautiful property is approached on a long private spectacular tree lined drive. The house has its own courtyard with plenty of parking, with gardens to the front and side. Dog owners will be excited about the safe enclosed courtyard and the outdoor shed for furry family members who need it. With an outdoor tap and bath with dedicated doggy towels, you and your pooch will be in heaven after a long stroll in Murlough.

Equestrian enthusiasts will love this area for  beach riding and hacking through the dunes. You’ll also love our unique original stables and large paddock. Water sports enthusiasts, Cyclists and Mountain bikers will delight in being able to wash down  gear and store it safely after a day exploring the area, the bay and the Reserve.

Golfers will enjoy the close proximity to the award winning Royal County Down Golf Course that’s less than 3 miles away. Plenty of storage space is available for golf bags at the house. A full tennis court awaits those wanting to play or use the court to to have a game of football. Sailors keen to stop off for a few nights could avail of our mooring in the inner Dundrum Bay.
