The Wake the Giant festival returns to Warrenpoint on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 August 2022. Inspired by the ancient myth of the sleeping giant in the Cooley Mountains, see if you can stir Fionn Mac Cumhaill, Ireland’s most famous giant, from his slumber.

Buskers will take to the streets filling the town with music and complimenting the giant food market, and family activities.

Kicking off the jam-packed weekend music concerts in Warrenpoint Municipal Park bandstand on Saturday will be local singer/songwriter, Cora Kelly, who hails from Killough, County Down.  Cora will be performing from 11.30am-12.30pm.

Next up from 1pm - 2pm Irish singer/songwriter Luka Bloom will take the stage.  Luka Bloom is the younger brother of Christy Moore. He is a passionate artist who generates lyrical music whilst marrying the energy of rock with the sound and themes of folk.

From 3pm - 4pm Rostrevor born country singer Catherine McGrath returns home from Nashville to perform on stage and get your feet stomping.

Bringing Saturdays performances to a close will be Crossmaglen singer/songwriter Odhrán Murphy whose music recently featured on the popular TV show, Love Island and fuses folk and country to deliver something really special.

Sunday morning gets off to a lively start with Belfast’s finest all-girl bluegrass band Wookalily who’ll be playing from 11.30am - 12.30pm, followed by country/bluegrass Mons Wheeler, playing from 1pm - 2pm.

Headlining the bill on Sunday will be someone who needs no introduction, Brian Kennedy, one of Ireland's most inspiring and revered ambassadors of popular music.  Brian will be playing from 3pm-4pm.

To bring the weekend’s music events to an end, authentic American gospel, country & rock band, The Unholy Gospel Band fronted by Cormac Neeson (of The Answer)  will play from 6pm-7pm.

So get ready for a genre-hopping miscellany of must-see performances and sizzling entertainment for those that dare to WAKE THE GIANT.
