Downpatrick (Dún Pádraig) is the County town of Down and is a Cathedral town and the largest town in the Lecale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Downpatrick is one of Ireland's most historic towns.  Downpatrick is the burial place of Saint Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland.  Visitors to Downpatrick are able to visit many cultural sites.  Down County Museum is a restored 18th-century Gaol and it makes an ideal day out for families, groups and individuals.

Downpatrick and County Down Railway runs through the drumlin countryside of County Down, Saint Patrick's Country, on specific days and weekends throughout the year. 

The Saint Patrick Centre is a purpose-built attraction in the centre of the town which tells the story of Saint Patrick.  Downpatrick also has a vibrant Arts Scene with a full programme of events in the Down Arts Centre.  

Downpatrick is a medium sized town with a number of coffe shops, bars and restaurants. The town plays host to to a monthly Artisan Market.
