Celebrate Love and Magic with AMELíA

About

On Thursday 20 February, join us for a romantic start to the day with the whimsical French film Amélie (2001), directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and starring Audrey Tautou in her iconic role.

This charming film follows Amélie Poulain, a shy and imaginative young woman living in Paris, who embarks on a secret mission to spread joy and kindness to the people around her — all while navigating her own quiet path toward love.  Set against the dreamy, vibrant backdrop of Montmartre, Amélie is a beautiful celebration of the small, magical moments that make life worth living. With its quirky, heartwarming story and stunning visuals, it’s the perfect film to get you in the mood for Valentine’s Day, whether you’re sharing it with a loved one or enjoying it solo. Amélie’s gentle optimism and mischievous spirit will have you leaving the cinema with a smile on your face and warmth in your heart.

Don’t miss this chance to experience Amélie on the big screen — a movie about love, life, and the little things that make both truly special.

Following the success of our Movies in the Morning series, we’re kicking off 2025 with a brand-new lineup of films and live performances — all designed to bring joy, creativity, and connection. This quarter, we’re offering something for everyone: watch classic films on the big screen, rediscover
old favourites you haven’t seen in years, or enjoy fun, feel-good films that will lift your spirits and spark conversation. Whether you’re a lifelong film lover or just looking for a great way to spend your morning or evening, Down Arts Centre is the perfect place to experience it all.
