Chronicles of Long Kesh

About

GBL Productions presents in Down Arts Centre, Chronicles of Long Kesh by Martin Lynch

The hilarious, painful and shocking story of Northern Ireland's infamous prison — Long Kesh — is told through the eyes of prison officers, Republicans and Loyalists, a rich assortment of patriots, chancers, leaders, wives, escapers and hypochondriacs! A huge crowd-pleaser, full of 1960's Mo-Town songs and wild, irreverent humour, this is the inside story of The Troubles.

Chronicles of Long Kesh last played in Belfast in 2012 with a sold-out run and standing ovations every single night! The play has toured throughout Northern Ireland and was a smash-hit at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

*****

'Fierce and gripping, direct from Belfast and dripping with the sound, fury and black humour of that city… played out at breakneck speed on tremendous energy … snatches of the music of the day all sung a cappella… light relief and a period touch in one winning, theatrical flourish.'

THE TIMES

****

'Simple staging and superb performances work an un-showy magic.'

THE GUARDIAN

****

'Physical, loud, sweary, funny, perfectly choreographed, terrifying and still, again, funny.'

THE OBSERVER

A must-see!
