About

The Non-Subscribing Presbyterian Church of Ireland is a small but significant denomination with a historical witness to liberal Christianity. Although a separate denomination in its own right, it has no exact parallel with any other church outside Ireland and may best be understood in relation to Irish Presbyterianism, within which tradition it had its origins and with which it still retains a deep affinity.

The Congregation was founded in 1713 and the present building was constructed in 1787 during the ministry of Rev Dr Moses Neilson. An example of an early Ulster Barn Church with three galleries accessed by external steps and original fielded panel pews. In 1768 the linked Rademon Academy was founded by Rev Dr Moses Neilson. The Academy prepared students for University and was open to students from all denominations. Rev Dr Neilson also collected ancient Irish tales and worked with his son on an Irish grammar book.

Between 2000 and 2002 extensive restoration work was carried out on the building to ensure the many original features were preserved for future generations.

Sunday service 10:00-11:00 and all are welcome.

Tours are available from 1300 .
