New Year's Eve Eagle Ridge Walk, Mourne Mountains

About

Eagle Mountain is one of the treasures of the Western Mournes, offering an outstanding 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains and beyond. At a summit of 638 meters, it stands as the highest mountain in the Western Mournes, showcasing an awe-inspiring example of how glaciation has shaped this majestic range, leaving behind a beautiful ridgeline for generations to enjoy.

During this stroll we walk up through the Sandy Brae which is almost like stepping back in time, it's no surprise that this location was chosen for `The Northman' , a Viking revenge saga set in Iceland during the turn of the 10th century. This truly is an amazing looped hike that provides a
totally different experience than the high Mournes. The descent along the ridge holds stories of the Outlaw O’Hanlon and views as far as the eyes can see.
