Piano Fest Opening Concert

Newry Town Hall, Bank Parade, Newry, Down, BT34 1DQ
Finghin Collins Piano

About

Newry Chamber Music launches its inaugural Piano Fest with a vibrant opening concert featuring leading Irish pianists David Quigley and Finghin Collins in their first-ever performance together — performing on two magnificent Steinway Model D concert grands, kindly loaned by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the Ulster Orchestra.
The programme opens with Mozart's Larghetto and Allegro in E-flat and continues with world premieres by leading Irish composers Sam Perkin and Philip Martin as well as repertoire from some of Northern Ireland's most revered composers; Elaine Agnew, Philip Hammond and Joan Trimble.

The second half of the concert is occupied by one of the great duo masterpieces, Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances, a sweeping, electrifying work that brings the first night of Piano Fest to a thrilling conclusion.
