Our Giant Adventures Calendar now includes the new Eats and Beats festival on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 September in Newcastle, Co Down set against the magnificent backdrop of the Mourne Mountains. The Eats and Beats festival weekend will bring you the best in local and world food and music, featuring three music stages providing around 40 free performances and fringe events. Two homegrown and world food villages will offer a host of unique and locally produced food and beverage outlets from Savour Visit Mourne’s finest food and drink experiences. Visitors can experience food trails, cooking demonstrations and food sampling, together with lots of family fun and wellness activities.
Check out, local, celebrity chef, Paul Cunningham, from Great British Menu fame, and owner of Mourne Larder and Scopers Dundrum. Tantalise your tastebuds with menu selections from the finest local hospitality providers, Killeavy Castle Estate, The Cuan and Denvir’s Coaching Inn. Relish the tastes of locally sourced beef from Castlescreen Farm’s native Irish Dexter Cows. Or for those with a sweet tooth, you’ll love the Nana’s No Bake Wild Fifteens from Mourne Food Adventures and Neary Nogs Stoneground Chocolate.
Sample gin, cider and Poitín from Shortcross Gin, Kilmegan Irish Cider and Killowen Distillery. Or enjoy the tastes of award-winning craft brews and beers from Whitewater Brewery and Mourne Mountain Brewery.
Of course, it’s not only the fantastic local food and drink you’ll get to savour at the Eats and Beats festival this September. With three music stages providing 40+ free performances music lovers of all genres will be tapping to the sounds of the best in local and world talent throughout the weekend.
Irish presenter, comedian and DJ, Ryan Hand will host the Main/Homegrown stage at Donard Park where festival revellers can enjoy a mix of rock, gospel, folk, country, blues and punk. World Music and Foodie enthusiasts will delight in the tastes and sounds on offer at Castle Park. Meanwhile the Rising Stage at The Promenade will give music lovers the chance to hear new and upcoming acts. With family fun activities, a sustainability village, Newcastle Artisan Market and fringe events there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy throughout the festival weekend.
