This May we are so lucky to have three bank holidays to take some time off to be with our friends and family, so let us show you how to enjoy every moment, even on a budget!

The Mourne Mountains, Ring of Gullion and Strangford Lough areas are home to expansive woodlands and dedicated parks. Whether you want to escape to the forest, spend a fun family day out in one of our many adventure play parks, or enjoy an event, you’ll be well catered for in Counties Down and Armagh.

Everyone knows that the Mourne Mountains & Ring of Gullion area is really just one giant adventure park. There are surely few better places on earth for outdoor fun and your kids are sure to love it here. Should it rain, and that can happen on occasion in these parts, there are plenty of budget-friendly things to do indoors too.

The Vikings - A Brief History in County Down

The Vikings first came to Ireland as raiders but began to settle here by the ninth century. In the south of the country they founded the towns of Dublin, Waterford, Wexford, Cork and Limerick.

Archaeologists have found evidence for these southern towns, but no traces of settlements, and relatively few Viking objects, in the north of Ireland. However, the name ‘Strangford’ is a Viking word, referring to the strong currents in the Narrows of the Lough.
