From Warrenpoint to New York: The Beginning of the Dream

At 18 years of age, I left the shores of Warrenpoint for the skyline of  New York, looking for the American dream. Working in construction and enjoying my weekends in restaurants and bars, one stood out that I loved going to — Brick Café in Astoria, Queens. Unreal food, service, and atmosphere. It was a regular spot.

One weekend while sitting there, I said to myself, “I’ll have a place of my own one day, and I’m calling it after this place.”

A Round-the-World Adventure and the Birth of Bric Café, Warrenpoint

Leaving New York, I wasn’t done with exploring. My good friend Keith and some colleagues joined me on a round-the-world adventure - 18 months of travelling that took me from Argentina to Vietnam and beyond.

Everywhere we went, café culture was massive. It wasn’t just about the coffee — it was about people, creativity, and connection.

Coming home to Warrenpoint in 2008, I felt there was a real lack of choice here and I decided the town needed something different. So, after months of hard work, the ribbon was cut and my very own Bric Café was opened in November 2008 - inspired by a dream in New York and shaped by a journey around the globe.
