Such is the beauty and history of Mourne Mountains, Ring of Gullion and Strangford Lough that it has inspired pagan chiefs and patron saints, writers, inventors, engineers and visitors from all corners of the world for millennia.

Just a few moments in the epic heart of the Mourne Mountains, along the rolling hills of the Ring of Gullion or on the rippling shores of Strangford Lough and you’ll soon discover why Saint Patrick chose to settle here. This is the land that also inspired C.S. Lewis and the creators of Game of Thrones® and its myths, legends, landscapes and experiences are sure to inspire you too.

Living here in partnership with nature, the people of the Mourne Mountains, Ring of Gullion and Strangford Lough are to be found every day in their craft breweries and distilleries, their artisan shops, and on farms that produce some of the finest local food on the island.

It’s these people who have helped create so many of the treasures that Mourne Gullion Strangford offers; from the farm shops and the world-class championship golf courses to the activity trails, adventure parks, cafes, restaurants and accommodation choices that help make every visitor here feel so special.

Castlewellan Forest Park

One of Northern Ireland's most famous lakes, a stunning Victorian Castle, incredible panoramic views, scenic walking trails, 27km of Mountain Bike Trails, Nature Play perfect for the kids, an onsite multi-activity centre, hedge maze and equestrian centre, Castlewellan Forest Park boasts all of this and more making it a must-visit for all ages.
Delamont Country Park

Delamont Country Park, located on the Strangford Lough shoreline near Killyleagh, is a place full of unexpected adventures. One of its highlights is the Strangford Stone, standing at an impressive height of ten meters, making it the tallest monolith in Ireland.
Kilbroney Park, Rostrevor

On northern shore of Carlingford Lough, a wonderful escape for all the family no matter their different ages and stages. The offering on just this one site makes it something of a unique family destination and its location close to both Belfast and Dublin means it’s really easy to get to.

Things to do in Newry City

Since it’s just a short hop from the south of the island, Newry City has always been a busy centre of activity. Our region's only city may be small in size, but as a regional centre it has plenty of things to offer everyone with the added advantage of being really close to the Ring of Gullion, Carlingford Lough and beautiful surrounding countryside and beaches.

Things to do in Downpatrick

The spiritual centre of our area, Downpatrick is a beautiful and historic town built on the rolling drumlins of Lecale. One of the oldest towns on the island of Ireland, it has a long association with Saint Patrick who spent much of his time in and around the area and died here in the early 5th Century. His legacy remains and whether you come here on pilgrimage or just to simply say hello, there is a unique atmosphere in this small town that you won’t find anywhere else.
Cycling & Mountain Biking

With so much space and relatively little road traffic, the Mourne Mountains & Ring of Gullion is the perfect place for all levels of cyclists and mountain bikers. Even if you don’t feel like bringing your own bike, there are plenty of places you can hire them out and set off exploring.
Carlingford Lough Cruises

A two and a half hour sunset passenger cruise which offers a rare opportunity to enjoy 360-degree panoramic views of Carlingford Lough and the iconic Haulbowline Lighthouse, guarding the entrance to the Lough.
