About

Barry Kerr and Pauline Scanlon
The Longing
Rostrevor Folk Club at Crawfords
Monday 22 May, 8pm

'Pauline Scanlon's voice is a superb mix of china cup fragility and steely strength' (The Irish Times).

'Barry Kerr's Boy in a Boat is an exceptional, original, artistic and enduring masterpiece' (Irish Music Magazine).

Two of Irish folk's leading lights, multi-instrumentalist and singer Barry Kerr from the shores of Lough Neagh and renowned singer Pauline Scanlon from Dingle, have come together for a collaborative traditional singing project. They have created beautiful, contemporary arrangements, focusing on traditional songs where feelings of longing for home, freedom, love, acceptance and peace are central themes.

Working with artists such as Damien Dempsey, Sinead O'Connor, John Spillane and many other well-known names, Pauline has featured as harmony vocalist on countless albums. Her latest album, Unquiet, reimagines what it is to be an Irish woman in the context of music and song.

A highly regarded singer, multi- instrumentalist, composer and painter Barry recorded his first album at the age of seventeen and has since toured the world as a solo artist. He has shared the stage with artists like Cara Dillon, Lumiere, Dervish and Steve Cooney, His songs are sung by the likes of Karan Casey, Flook and Kate Rusby. Barry has been awarded the prestigious Liam O'Flynn award.

Tickets (£12.50) are available at Crawfords Bar (seven days from 3pm onwards), and by ringing 028 417 39911. They are also available at Belinda Cullen's Good Craic Gift shop at 13 Church Street, Rostrevor (Mon to Sat 10am – 5pm, Sunday 1pm – 5pm). Please pay cash if possible.
