Slieve Gullion Forest Drive, a magnificent 10km Scenic Forest Drive.
Temporary closures at Slieve Gullion Forest Drive: Due to Forest Service tree harvesting, the Mountain drive at Slieve Gullion Forest Park will be closed to vehicles (Monday through Friday) until Friday 15 March 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
How long does it take to drive Slieve Gullion Forest Drive?
When Slieve Gullion Forest Drive reopens, a vehicle journey will take 20 minutes (approx.) along a narrow one-way road that brings you up and over the mountain. (Narrow but with plenty of places to pull in and take in the view over South Armagh, over Carlingford Lough and beyond.)
Magically this area turns a familiar shade of purple in the summer months with wild fuchsias and heather plentiful along the route. If you’re feeling energetic walk (or cycle) the Forest Trail – you won’t be disappointed with spectacular and breathtaking views on a beautiful day. The Red Squirrel Safari and the mysterious trek through the Fairy Walk all begin nearby so there is plenty on offer to explore and enjoy.
